Ministry MoJo

Moses & Tablets

…because even God’s appointed and anointed lose their mojo sometimes!

Have you, as a pastor or the leader of your church, lost your mojo? Or do you perceive the pastors and team leaders around you to have lost theirs?

Here are a few tell-tale signs:

  • Waking daily with a sinking feeling.
  • Procrastinating when prepping sermons.
  • Avoiding Sunday services.
  • Finding excuses not to preach.
  • Questioning one’s calling.
  • A lack of passion for God/scripture/people. (Delete as applicable.)
  • Feeling more stage fright than the presence of the Spirit in the pulpit or on the platform.
  • Feeling stressed out, detached from your surroundings and “lost”.
  • Wanting to spend more time alone.

You call on someone who gets it. Like me.

I am paid to light people’s sparks, to restore their joie de vivre and enthusiasm for their work – so aside from praying, how do I deal with blips?I am human, after all, subject to the same life challenges as everyone else! Unloading onto my social feeds is not an option. Walking my dog helps me reflect, clear my head, talk things over with God, shift my perspective, but sometimes I need to confide in people I can trust who won’t judge me for being honest.

Be discerning about who you share your feelings with. It can often help to talk to a stranger. Coaches and counsellors are impartial. They have no agenda, confidentiality is guaranteed and they won’t judge what they hear.

Accept a helping hand. (It’s Biblical!)

The problem with losing our mojo is that, if neglected, apathy and lethargy can spiral into clinical depression. This is harder and longer to treat and will worsen a situation that is already challenging for you, your staff and your ministry.

Transformative Coaching will get you and/or your colleagues back on track – confidentiality guaranteed. Online coaching consultations permit me to accommodate global time zones. Please note: This is coaching not counselling. If you’re not sure of the difference, contact me. I’ll be glad to explain.

Don’t you owe it to yourself to invest in yourself?
